Tonight started out like any other Friday evening on the lake. Put the boat in the water, have the cooler full of nice chilling beverages, and off we go. Anchoring on the west end of the lake, in a nice breeze. Dangling your feet in the water while listening to some tunes on the radio. After a long day at work it's nirvana, right? Well, now it's time to go in, we lift anchor, start the boat. And, we have nothing. No click. No buzzer. No engine turning over. Holy crap were on the far side of the lake. Well, it's after 6pm so no ones answering the marina phone. And wow, who do you call now?? Wayne. Yes, Wayne Ousley is the man of the hour. Wayne hooked us up with Chris Cooper, who got the Ranger for us. So, youre thinking why didn't we call channel 16 on the marine radio? Well, we did. We got no Marina (they were already closed.) We got no Ranger (let's not go there.). I got Wayne on the cell phone. Ready to help us out of the water when the Ranger got us to the club docks. He helped us get our boat onto our trailer (remember we couldn't start it,) so here we are maneuvering a 24' boat MANUALLY onto a trailer. Anyway, the point to this blog is, thank goodness for helpful club members who are willing to help other members when needed. Isn't that another good reason to be a part of our boat club? Have a great weekend. And remember, reach out to a club member when you need help. Sometimes you just have to ask.
