Pleasant Hill Boat Club Constitution


ARTICLE 1   NAME   
The name of this organization shall be the Pleasant Hill Boat Club, Inc.

ARTICLE 2   OBJECTIVES    The organization will:
1.   Render a service to small boat and float boat owners.
2.   Promote increased interest in boating.
3.   Cooperate as fully as possible with existing sporting and boating associations

ARTICLE 3   ELIGIBILITY
1.   Any person of good character, if properly recommended by two members of the CLUB, is eligible for membership.
2.   All applications for membership shall be made to the Secretary in writing, properly recommended, and shall be presented to the Board of Directors at the next meeting following the receipt.
3.  Prior to membership approval a perspective member must appear before the BOARD, at a predetermined time.  (Amended 4/21/1988)
4.   Any applicant must exercise his application petition with in thirty (30) days.
5.   Any member not conforming to the constitution and by-laws is subject to dismissal by the Board of Directors.

ARTICLE 4   BOARD OF DIRECTORS
1.   The management of this boat club shall be vested in a board consisting of nine (9) members of whom no more than three shall be retired in any one year.
2.   Five (5) members of the board shall constitute a quorum.
3.   Members are permitted to attend BOARD meetings.  Those attending board meetings, other than board members, will be given a specified floor time not to exceed five (5) minutes. (Amended 10/1989)

ARTICLE 5   POLICY
The constitution and by-laws of the club shall at all times strive to promote the best interest and safety of small boat and float boat owners with in this district.
 
ARTICLE 6   ELECTIONS

1.   At the annual election the Club shall elect a Vice Commodore, Secretary and a Treasurer, each of whom shall serve for a period of one year and forthwith become members of the Board of Directors upon election.
2.   The retiring Vice Commodore to advance to Commodore, the retiring Commodore to become an ex-official member of the Board of Directors for one year.
3.   The Club shall elect three (3) directors each year who shall serve for a period of three (3) years.
4.   The Board of Directors may appoint replacements to fill any vacancy for the remainder of the term.
5.   Board members may only serve two (2) consecutive three year terms and then will be ineligible for re-election for one year.

ARTICLE 7   AMENDMENTS
This constitution may be amended at any meeting of the members or adjourned session thereof, or at a special meeting called for that purpose.  The votes of two-thirds(2/3) of all the members present shall be necessary, provided that written notice has been mailed to each member at least Ten (10) days before such a meeting, stating that a proposed amendment will be voted upon at a meeting as designated.
