Ever wonder why you love being by the water whether it's in a boat, sitting on your porch or in a boat? You are not alone. Enjoy life, enjoy today, and be safe. PHBC
Tonight started out like any other Friday evening on the lake. Put the boat in the water, have the cooler full of nice chilling beverages, and off we go. Anchoring on the west end of the lake, in a nice breeze. Dangling your feet in the water while listening to some tunes on the radio. After a long day at work it's nirvana, right? Well, now it's time to go in, we lift anchor, start the boat. And, we have nothing. No click. No buzzer. No engine turning over. Holy crap were on the far side of the lake. Well, it's after 6pm so no ones answering the marina phone. And wow, who do you call now?? Wayne. Yes, Wayne Ousley is the man of the hour. Wayne hooked us up with Chris Cooper, who got the Ranger for us. So, youre thinking why didn't we call channel 16 on the marine radio? Well, we did. We got no Marina (they were already closed.) We got no Ranger (let's not go there.). I got Wayne on the cell phone. Ready to help us out of the water when the Ranger got us to the club docks. He helped us get our boat onto our trailer (remember we couldn't start it,) so here we are maneuvering a 24' boat MANUALLY onto a trailer. Anyway, the point to this blog is, thank goodness for helpful club members who are willing to help other members when needed. Isn't that another good reason to be a part of our boat club? Have a great weekend. And remember, reach out to a club member when you need help. Sometimes you just have to ask.
Pleasant Hill Boat Club Commodore and Board Members - Thank you!Spring is here! It's just a short time until our docks are in. Our boats are in and we're spending the day or weekend at the lake. Dock in Day is coming in May. The Commodore, Board members have been working tirelessly over the winter to see that the shore work is done so the new docks can be set up. I'm sure I am being conservative by saying that combined they have put in several dozen person hours to get it done. I want to thank each and everyone of them for pushing the project forward and getting it done. THANK YOU,
I often wonder why people use the 1st of the year as a starting point to make changes in their lives. I mean, I do it to. But shouldn't we find motivation to start doing something to improve our health or our lives on one of the other 365 days? I'm just saying. Like everyone else, I'll assume, eating right and healthy, and exercising more is always at the top of the list. So, here goes. FYI, it takes a minimum of 21 days to change a behavior. 3 weeks. If you can hang in there that long, it's just that much easier to go the next 3 weeks, and so on! If you know someone who is trying to change a behavior (or break a habit) be supportive. You never know when you will be the person who needs the support. So, the more friends, family, co-workers that are there for you the closer you'll be to your goal! So, why not get outside and take a walk with your friends. Good luck and much success with your 2014 resolution! It's that time of year. End of the Summer. Backyard barbeques. Corn hole. Last run on the lake before dusk. Drinking beer at the dock and watching the sun set. Good times. Our club's annual party is coming up on August 31st, and we hope most of you will come and celebrate. The Pleasant Hill marina will be providing fireworks. Summer took a while to actually arrive, and when it did, it was mostly soggy. However, we are all looking forward to spending more time out on the water, and hopefully, summer will take a little while to leave this year. If you're reading this blog post and are out on the lake, take a moment to look around and enjoy the beauty of our lake. Raft up with a couple of club members and enjoy the day. Carpe diem! You can always tell the "do-ers" from the "non-doers." The non-doers, well they are the ones waiting for someone to do it for them. We have several helpful "do-ers" in our boat club. (You know who you are.) Those are the individuals who step forward to help when there is something that clearly needs to be done. We also have our "non-doers." Yes, they made themselves known during and after the recent Pleasant Hill lake flood. Just think, if every able boat club member would help around the boat club (not just mowing,) then wouldn't it make every club members boat season, well, fun? Reach out to one or more of our board members if you need some guidance on what could be done to help out. They are so ready for you to ask them! No special skills required. So, if you wouldn't mind occasionally sharing some of your valuable time to assist on projects around the club, please reach out to Kevin or Wayne. Let them know you can, and are willing to help. You obviously all have some skills, right? So, I'll say it again, "Let's hear it for the Do-ers! Yay!" |
