Hello Boat Club Members,
Sorry about the delay in getting this letter out to you. I have been holding off until we had a few procedural items cleared up.
First, I would like to thank everyone who showed up on dock out day. These days seem to be taking less time each time we do them. When most members show up for the detail the time it takes to complete all the tasks goes down. If you failed to show up, you know what’s coming.
We also voted to modify a couple of club bylaws. The two main ones are as follows. One: Any board member, including officers, may now bring an issue before the board, make a motion to vote on the issue and to vote on said issue. Two: More than one family member can serve on the board simultaneously under one membership. These two items were passed by majority voting of the membership.
We also discussed raising the dues for this year. After looking at the numbers I feel this is not necessary at this time. So dues will remain the same for 2012. Muskingum rates are also remaining the same for 2012.
We also discussed that we are going to enforce the bylaw that puts a time limit on when dues are due to the club. This year all dues should be paid by the last day of March or MARCH 31ST. By doing this we can make one submittal to Muskingum for stickers and make the secretaries job a lot easier. It also helps us keep track of what sticker goes to what OH number.
If your dues are not paid by March 31st, we will remove you from the membership list for 2012. If you decide you want to rejoin, a $25.00 dollar reinstatement fee will be assessed. If you have a powerboat or a pontoon spot and you fail to meet the deadline, your spot will be given to the next person on the waiting list. This has always been a bylaw we are just enforcing it this year. We do understand that hardship is a reality. If for some reason you cannot meet the deadline, contact me and we will try to work out some sort of compromise.
When you send in your dues, please include your boat OH numbers. The stickers from Muskingum are assigned to your OH number. The two must correspond with each other. We need your OH numbers when we submit to Muskingum. Please include it when returning your dues to Pat.
We also discussed updating the clubhouse. Quite a few members approached me after the meeting and said they would use the clubhouse if it were updated some. As a first step, we installed new gutters and downspouts to help keep water out of the basement. With that in mind we will discuss clubhouse updates for the year at the first board meeting in March. If you have suggestions, please let us know.
There are also numerous old docks, pieces of old docks and boats in the upper field. If these belong to you and you are not intending to put in the water this upcoming year, please remove them. After dock in day these items will be disposed of.
Thanks,
Kevin Hardesty, Commodore
